EVAC Chair Training
This is a practical training course for employees who need to able to use evacuation chairs in the event of an emergency to evacuate individuals with mobility impairments.
The course content consists of a practical session which covers the use of the evacuation equipment. The objective of this course is for all delegates to gain confidence in their ability to operate the evacuation chair, both as an operator and as an assistant. Delegates are strongly encouraged to be the "passenger" at least once during the course, so they understand what it feels like to be transported and can show empathy with actual mobility impaired passegers.
After completing the course the delegate will:
- Be able to prepare the equipment ready for use for use;
- Manoeuvre the equipment to the escape route and down the stairs;
- Use of the equipment and its restrictions;
- Return the equipment to its storage position;
- Have confidence in the equipment and the ability to operate it.
Please note that this course is physically demanding. Delegates should therefore be reasonably fit and not have any medical issues which would affect their ability to manually handle the evacuation chair. Pregnant ladies and those which have given birth in the preceding 6 months should not participate in the evacuation chair training course.
