The oneSource Health & Safety Team provides a range of health and safety related services to schools, academies and colleges. If you find health and safety management confusing or are concerned about the safety arrangements that you have in place in your school or college, we can help you. We understand that health and safety isn't always your number one concern, and that you often have conflicting issues to resolve. We have dedicated teams of professionals working with schools and colleges to enable them to comply with their statutory health, safety and fire duties. Our advice and models are designed to achieve a high level of compliance through the creation of effective safety management systems with the least amount of effort on the part of the client.

Most of the schools using oneSource to provide them with competent advice choose our on-site advisory service. In addition to the extensive online guidance & resources which all our advisory service customers have access to, they benefit from having a named advisor allocated who will undertake their support visits. The support visits enable the adviser to provide direct support to the staff working to develop the school's safety management system. The support can therefore be targeted towards the education establishment's greatest need; whether that be assistance developing policy documentation, completing risk assessments, producing safe systems of work, undertaking training or talking through the options for a particular challenge it currently faces.

The main focus of our advisory service is to help schools' management teams (and their staff) to achieve a level of confidence by improving their individual competence. To further enable staff competency to be improved we provide clients with access to a termly newsletter and health & safety co-ordinators' meeting. The newsletters provide client's with information on recent prosecutions of education employers. These legal cases provide clients with the opportunity to learn from how the law has been enforced on other educational settings. They can therefore use the learning from these cases when reviewing their own policy documents, risk assessments, safe systems of work or training plans. The newsletters also include articles to inform and expand the reader's knowledge and understanding of the risks relevant to education establishments, updates on the Team's online resources and information on our e-learning and face-to-face training. At the meetings we provide short education sessions on current topics & identified gaps in schools' knowledge. The sessions also offer an open forum for schools to ask questions about policy, risk assessment or any other topic relating to implementing health and safety law in their schools.

The long-term relationships that our clients forge with us means that we understand the environment in which schools and colleges operate and can therefore offer advice which meets their unique needs. Our local authority background means that you can be assured of the quality of service you will receive and an ethical approach to business.
